Walmart buys start-up Memomi and offers virtual fitting
Walmart, the American retail giant, continues its development in the field of augmented reality with the purchase of the start-up Memomi. Specialising in AR eyewear fitting, this acquisition allows internet users to try on eyewear remotely without even having to go anywhere, which is ideal!
Try on your glasses virtually with Memomi
Memomi is a start-up founded in Israel. Specialized in augmented reality and above all virtual fitting, the company has been able to stand out thanks to the development of its AR platform allowing Internet users to try on the products of their choice virtually. This type of technology is very important today to meet the new expectations and needs of Internet users. Thanks to augmented reality and the new technologies developed, users can easily project themselves and be reassured about their potential purchase. Being aware of the importance of AR and the support it represents in the customer's purchasing process, brands are adapting and this is notably the case for Walmart. For this, the group has decided to use Memomi, a start-up that is already specialised and efficient in this field.
In order to offer a quality virtual fitting, the start-up has developed the Memory Mirrora digital mirror that is among the most advanced in the world. Applicable to many fields and customisable according to the sector of activity, it allows brands to offer immersive, unique yet realistic experiences. Beauty, fashion, eyewear, hair care, shoes or accessories, many things are possible with the Memory Mirror.

A new offer for glasses proposed
Who hasn't dreamed of trying on the glasses of their dreams that perfectly match their face shape and look the way they want to, it's possible with this new collaboration. Walmart is developing a project to bring optical care to the home through augmented reality. This new acquisition is part of this project, which requires a good knowledge of the subject, "this acquisition reinforces our ambition to offer customers cheaper access to healthcare from home". said David Reitnauer, Vice President, Speciality Services at Walmart Health & Wellness. Thanks to this collaboration, the project is developing and coming into being step by step.
Augmented reality at Walmart
This is not Walmart's first project directly related to augmented reality. Indeed, the group has already bought the start-up Zeekit which specialises in the virtual fitting of clothes, shoes and accessories. Thanks to Zeekit's connection with Walmart Global Tech's artificial intelligence technologies, the group has been able to develop an option to assist Internet users in their purchasing process. Thus, Internet users can visualise the clothes of their choice on mannequins corresponding to their morphology thanks to the option Choose my Model. On the other hand, the group also has an option to project furniture and other decorative elements into one's interior, another augmented reality option to help customers project themselves even behind their screens.
Walmart is therefore continuing to develop, particularly in terms of augmented reality. Its objective is really to accompany Internet users through realistic and unique experiences. We can't wait to see the next projects of the American giant!
