5 examples of metaverse that exist
The metaverse: definition
A metaverse is a virtual world connected to the internet that allows users to move around and interact with the fictional world. Here are 5 examples of metavers that may illustrate this.
1- The SandBox: the most important example of a metaverse
The Sandbox is a meta-verse featuring Voxel Art, which is made of pixels and allows users to create objects (and therefore universes) in pixels.
This metaverse is a good example since, in addition to offering people the opportunity to interact with the universe in question, it also allows users to create their own world and thus offer different games, events or specific spaces according to their desires. In addition to this, every creation on this metaverse is available in NFT which encourages users to create assets and objects to sell.
Many brands have already positioned themselves on this metaverse, including Adidas and certain artists such as Wiz Khalifa. This allows us to reach even more people and offer different content to users.

Decentraland
2- Decentraland
Among the examples of metavers, we can also mention Decentraland. This is a very different virtual world from The SandBox as it is not in Voxel. At the very beginning, it was just a pixelated grid that gave pixels to users through a proof-of-work algorithm. Now it is a 3D world that is a precursor to the metaverse.
This metaverse offers an economic ecosystem through NFTs which allows you to buy land in crypto-currencies on the platform.
For Decentraland, its vision of the metaverse is through brands. Indeed, it tends to perfect virtual dressing and wants to propose fashion shows. Some brands are already positioned in this metaverse such as Gucci, Chanel and Ralph Lauren.
3- Second Life
Another example of metaverse is Second Life. It is the oldest of the known metavers as it was launched in the early 2000s. In Second Life, everything can be created by the users like in The Sandbox. However, in its design, it does not resemble it at all since in Second Life, the characters look more like Humanoids and the setting is not in Voxel. Although it was the first metaverse to be designed, its success was very short-lived due to a bad reputation and the 2008 crisis. However, with the new trend of metavers, it is possible that Second Life may come back into the spotlight soon.

Horizon
4- Meta Horizon
We couldn't miss Meta when listing examples of metavers. Indeed, even if it has not yet been launched, the social networking giant has invested no less than 10 billion dollars this year. It is somewhat thanks to Meta's announcement that the metaverse trend has become important.
5- Mesh
Microsoft has also launched into the metaverse but from a different angle. Indeed, to complete its Teams offer, the American giant wants to propose a universe specially designed for teleworking. For this, it will be possible to use mixed reality to interact and display content with other users in the form of an avatar. This feature is still in Beta version but promises to revolutionise the world of remote working.
