How do I use the TikTok Auto-Tune filter?

The TikTok Auto-Tune filter is a "Voice" type filter which transforms the user's voice by adding Auto-Tune. This allows users to sing without their voice actually being heard. Many artists use Auto-Tune in their music, so the TikTok filter also lets users sing their artist's songs.

Step 1: Creating a video on TikTok

After opening your TikTok application, as with any TikTok video, you need to click on the plus at the bottom centre of your screen. You can choose between Text/Photo/15s/60s/10m. To make the TikTok Auto-Tune filter work, you need to create a video, so select "15 s" (if you want your video to be 15 seconds long), 60 s (for 1 minute) or 10 m (for 10 minutes).

Step 2: Validate the video

Once you have created your video, simply click on the red submit button at the bottom right of the screen. Don't worry, your video isn't published yet and you'll be able to edit it.

Step 3: Click on the "Voice" icon

To add the TikTok Auto-Tune filter, click on the white arrow on the right of your screen. This will bring up the various icons. The 'Voice' icon will appear, symbolised by a microphone and a small star.

Step 4: Click on the Auto-Tune icon

At the bottom of your screen are 12 voice filters created by TikTok, giving you a choice of Bariton, Vibrato and more. But above all Auto-Tune. All you have to do now is click on the Auto-Tune icon, symbolised by a processor. Your video will now include the Auto-Tune effect, so all you have to do is click on the record button in the top right-hand corner of your screen and your TikTok video can be published with the Auto-Tune filter.

Sing close to your microphone

The TikTok filter is very precise, but if you sing close to your microphone, the sound will be much better. Don't hesitate to use an external microphone or even headphones with a microphone.

Don't be afraid of singing out of tune

According to our tests, the more off-key you sing, the more the Auto-Tune filter applies, so don't be afraid to sing off-key. This will make your TikTok video even more punchy.
